Founding Trustee, Former Chair

Lucy Miller

Lucy is Alice’s grandniece. In 1996, she became an instant convert to the food justice movement upon being handed a brochure touting the newly founded NYC non-profit, Just Food. Within weeks, she was recruiting members for the first CSA location in Brooklyn & spreading the gospel to her fellow Lawson Valentine board members.

As a school librarian, Lucy works hard to provide her high school students with the tools they need to distinguish reliable information from the other stuff, and she advocates for library collections and library programs that reflect the diversity of our world, allowing all students to find reflections of their own lives and experiences in the books they read.

When not working, Lucy can be found hanging out on Twitter talking about work or following #mushertwitter; or hiking; or camping; or at the theater; or visiting with family and friends; or even with her nose in a book.
